Vintage 2024. Medea Winery was founded in 1956 by merging farmers cooperatives that existed in the village of Rovinj, Pula and Barban. Today they own 48 acres of vineyards. Despite the size of the winery, it produces only 30,000 bottles of high-quality wine a year, while the rest still ends up as table wine. However, the plan to switch exclusively to quality has already begun and we can’t wait to drink the fruits of their labor. Just walk through one of the series of our vineyards that cover a total of 60 hectares and soak up the smell of grapes, and in it the Istrian spirit of culture, tradition and heritage.

The story of Turtian is one of fortitude and transformation- a fortress born to defend, later to shelter art and now poured into a wine that carries its legacy. On the nose it is refreshing and carries the notes of well known Malvasia Istriana. Aromas consist of white Acacia flowers, lime, grapefruit and apple. The opening in the wine glass discovers fresh apricot, bread crust and brioche. On the palate, Turtian harmonises the flavours of grapefruit, pear, apple and bread crust with a gentle touch of marzipan. Turtian is a medium-bodied wine, it achieves comforting freshness while giving a long lasting finish that lights up the palate. We recommend pairing Turtian with seafood, white fish on the grill, Istrian fuži with truffles or with fresh goat cheese.
